Match Report - Ressies v Warnbro - Won 6-2

After the initial 15-20 minutes of play (where we graciously let Warnbro score the opening goal) and a little extra time before Declan scored his, and I quote, “opening net buster” it was all South Perth. We challenged for the ball, moved for each other and found space when we needed it. Gordie put on a powerful display in defence and managed to tough it out after stopping the ball with his wedding tackle early on, this became a bit of a theme as Graham copped one late but still managed to finish with two goals. Brett (2 goals) also had a good game up front, his pace proving too much for the Warnbro lads to handle. Watching from the sideline Banksy worked out that pace was the key to beating the Warnbro defence so subbed himself and John on up forward and pulled Henno up for back up. However credit where its due as he (Banksy) managed to set up Will for our sixth goal of the game with a beautiful shot from more space than anyone deserves to have inside the 18 yard box.

Unfortunately Warnbro pinched one in the dying minutes of the game. This effort sees us a point behind and (ignoring the incorrect score line on the Football West website) three goals ahead of Warnbro for the league.

Given the situation we found ourselves in this weekend with lots of players away or injured it was a good club effort in the ressies and firsts game. Thanks to all the lads that pitched in and had a solid crack at playing both games.

Best on ground: Brett, Gordie.
