. I really enjoyed watching the game on Sunday as the team played together and played for each other despite many players playing 90minutes before hand and despite that, and us not having the number of subs as the Saints or the spread of players across the positions they didn’t know what hit them. To me that was the one game where we lost but we could really hold our heads high, listening to the comments some of the Perth Saints players made I think they’d agree. If I could try and put a finger on why the difference in attitude, I think it was that after half the team stepped up and played for the reserves in a turning of the tables knowing that it would disadvantage the other game and then while prepared to give everything they had in the second game I don’t think anyone stepped out with an expectation of rolling over Perth Saints instead we went out to play for each other and the team/squad – that’s how we need to step on the pitch each week, without any expectation but prepared to play with whatever we have got for our team. Don’t for a second think I’m saying that we don’t put the effort in on other weeks but this was a different attitude. I’ve noticed over the last couple of weeks (despite the debacle a few weeks ago) a few players really starting to enjoy playing football which probably also played a factor, as well as being an indicator in the team pulling together before Sunday. It bodes well for next season guys, and if can take that attitude to the pitch with a full strength side then some of the top teams we've yet to play are going to get a shock. Best on Ground goes to Riz who has really stepped up to take his position lately and give 100% each week despite the arduousness of getting to Games - Have fun in KL and see you next season. |
